university of victoria campus community garden

about ccg

We do this work of growing food and building community on the stolen lands of the lək̓ʷəŋən speaking peoples and the W̱SÁNEĆ peoples. We would like to express gratitude to all of the Indigenous Peoples who have stewarded this land since time immemorial. It is because of their hard work, knowledge, and love for the land that we are able to grow such beautiful food in this place. We ask everyone who enters the garden space to come with an open mind and heart so that we may continue to tease apart and work through what it means to grow food on stolen land. We also invite you to come as you are and to enjoy the garden as the healing space that it is.

The short version:
  1. Grow food
  2. Rent out plots to UVic staff, students and faculty
(sign up to the waitlist here!)
  3. Host weekly volunteer work parties
  4. Host free workshops and events that are educational and fun; check out our events calendar!

The long version:

The UVic Campus Community Garden is an affiliate group of the
UVic Students Society. We manage an urban agriculture and permaculture space on campus, host free educational workshops and fun events, and rent out plots. There are 90 plots at the garden in total, 10 of which are managed by staff and dedicated to growing food to be donated to the UVSS food bank.

Individual plots or half-plots are rented out to staff, students, and faculty. Some clubs and classes also have their own plots as well, like the Horticulture Club and the Ecological Restoration Club.

Have a group that wants a plot? A question? Contact us!
