The garden is always looking for more volunteers, with or without experience! New gardeners can learn essential skills to begin growing your own food, and seasoned green thumbs can share their knowledge and still pick up new tips and tricks!
We have volunteer opportunities every week at our work parties, where anyone (not just UVic students) can join us to work in the communal garden plots and help maintain the garden. This could look like working in the giving gardens where we grow food for students and the food bank, weeding, harvesting vegetables, pruning fruit bushes, building projects, maintaining the permaculture site or flower garden, working with compost, and more! No experience required. :)
Our current work parties are Fridays from 2pm to 4pm. Come hang out!
If you are interested in getting involved with the behind-the-scenes of the garden, consider attending a board meeting or joining our board of directors. The board of directors help lead various aspects of our work, alongside staff members, which can include:
