The Campus Community Garden is always looking for more volunteers, with or without experience! New gardeners can learn essential skills to begin growing your own food, and seasoned green thumbs can share their knowledge and still pick up new tips and tricks!
To join our volunteer email list, use our Contact Us form or email a staff member!
Volunteer callouts will be emailed anytime we could use assistance or have an opportunity for lots of hands; whether we're building something, weeding, mulching, tabling, etc! You can remove yourself from the list anytime by letting us know, and there's no obligation.
We have volunteer opportunities every week at our work parties, where anyone (not just UVic students) can join us to work in the communal garden plots and help maintain the garden. This could look like working in the giving gardens where we grow food for students and the food bank, weeding, harvesting vegetables, pruning fruit bushes, building projects, maintaining the permaculture site or flower garden, working with compost, and more! No experience required. :)
Our current work parties are Fridays from 2pm to 4pm. Later in the semester, this time may change to 3pm to 5pm, and we may add a second in the week as well, so stay tuned!
If you are interested in getting involved with the organizational aspects of the garden, consider attending a future board meeting or joining our board of directors. Alongside our staff members, the board of directors help lead various aspects of our volunteer teams, including:
